I was in conversation with the Californian photographer Mark Ruwedel at Photo London on Saturday 19 May to a good sized audience in Somerset House. Mark is one of the wittiest people I know as well as among the best photographers and there was a very positive response to the event. I also gave a tribute at the KK Awards to my old friend Josef Koudelka, who received a KK Lifetime achievement fellowship.
I appeared in the film Through the Lens of Larkin (BBCTV4, 7.30pm Monday 25 September). Although the film got sidetracked by Larkin’s life and especially his loves, and failed to address his photography with sufficient seriousness, it was not a complete waste of time and quite a few of my friends enjoyed it.
I’m now on Instagram.
Several recent publications: my intro to Curtis Moffat: Silver Society, published autumn 2016 by the V&A/Steidl.
My lecture on Philip Larkin’s photographs is now in About Larkin, published autumn 2016 by the Philip Larkin Society.
My conversation with Tessa Traeger, which marked her 50th year in Rossetti Studios, Chelsea, appeared in Luncheon magazine, autumn 2016. Our book on North Devon, Wild is the Wind, appeared in early 2017 and sold out quickly.
I gave a lecture on ‘The legacy of James Ravilious’ at Beaford50, Petroc, on 20 October 2016.
I am most grateful for this honour
